My name is Rob. Over the last 20 years as a drummer, I have had the opportunity to do many amazing things. I have played gigs with many different artists; toured with the major country act, Gary Allan, as a drum tech; and worked as a drum teacher. Now I have moved on to building drums for players that are serious about their drum sound.
A couple years ago I realized I have never been satisfied with the sound from major drum brands. Additionally, when I did find a great sounding drum, it cost an arm and leg. Shortly after this realization, I started doing a lot of research. I wanted to know what made a drum sound a particular way. Through my research, I figured out how to get the sound I had always wanted. I knew that I had to build my own drums.
Over time, I have come up with different formulas for drum builds that will fit a player’s specific needs. My custom drums are not like any you can buy off the shelf of every major music store. When starting a build, I take into consideration the type of sound the customer is trying to achieve. From there, I decide what type of wood to use, the shell ply and thickness, the degree of the bearing edge cut, the type of lugs hoops and mounting hard wear, and the finish. All of these things are custom crafted to create the unique sound that each drummer prefers. If you are looking for the big-money drum sound at an affordable price, check out Green Tree Drums.
